An exciting opportunity to join Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) has arisen for an experienced professional to take on the role of Associate Director of Nursing and Therapies (Mental Health and Learning Disabilities).

This role is essential to our commitment towards continuous improvement and ensuring the highest possible standards of care for people who access our services and their families.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with the Director of Nursing and Therapies and the Associate Director of Nursing and Therapies (Physical Health) in ensuring effective leadership for the development of Nursing, Therapies and Social Care across Mental Health and Learning Disability services and ensure the professions contribute to the strategic objectives of the Trust. We aim for Nurses, Therapists and Social Care staff to maximise their roles in providing high quality evidence based care.

The post holder will provide strategic leadership and direct management of Education CWP and support the implementation of the People and Organisation Development Strategy across CWP. They will lead on the development of new roles and continuing professional development for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Nurses, Therapists and Social Care staff.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A Professional qualification in nursing, occupational therapy, podiatry, speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, social work and psychology
  • Master’s Degree in health / social care related subject
  • Evidence of continuing professional development post graduate study
Desirable criteria
  • Managerial qualification
  • Teaching qualification

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential criteria
  • Advanced knowledge of current priorities and issues in Mental Health and Learning Disabilities
  • Understanding of National Strategies and their application for Nursing and Therapies
  • Knowledge of compliance, clinical governance, risk management and patient safety
  • Well-developed leadership and management skills
  • Ability to work across professional and organisational boundaries
  • Ability to work in partnership with a range of people including people who access our services and carers
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of national presentations and publications

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive senior management/professional leadership experience in the NHS
  • Evidence of success in the management of change in a multi-agency context
  • Evidence of delivering high quality service
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment and knowledge of methods to develop culturally sensitive clinical practice
  • Ability to lead/develop policies and procedures
  • Experience of managing organisation wide programmes of quality/risk/service improvement
